It doesn’t seem accurate to claim the situation is “under control” if passengers are continuing to get sick on successive sailings. Norovirus is highly contagious, and a quick turnaround between cruises likely doesn’t allow enough time for a thorough, ship-wide sanitization. High-touch surfaces such as railings, elevator buttons, buffet areas, restrooms, casino machines, and cabin interiors may not be fully disinfected during short port turnovers.
Given how easily the virus spreads, often through shared surfaces and close contact—it can quickly move from one passenger to many. Additionally, not all passengers report symptoms immediately, which can further contribute to unnoticed transmission onboard.
There are also concerns that some guests may avoid reporting illness to prevent quarantine, which could unintentionally worsen the spread.
There are multiple accounts suggesting passengers are still falling ill during recent sailings, with some confined to their cabins for extended periods, significantly impacting their trip.
In light of this, should Princess Cruises consider pausing operations for a more comprehensive deep cleaning and containment effort, rather than relying on short turnaround procedures between voyages?
