I’m currently in St Malo and need to get to Paris, but I’ve run into a major issue.
The original plan was to take an early morning train on 5/3 to reach Paris and spend the full day there. However, when checking SNCF, every train we can see is fully booked. Even the following day appears fully booked as well, which is very unexpected.
We didn’t realize it was Labor Day recently, so it seems demand has been much higher than expected.
We already have a hotel booked in Paris and need to get there, so we’re now looking for alternative options.
We currently have a rental car that we are returning today. As a backup plan, we are considering renting another car, driving part of the way, and dropping it off near Paris before using public transport into the city. However, we are not comfortable driving inside central Paris and would prefer to avoid that if possible.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation or has advice on the best way to make this journey when trains are fully booked?
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
