Reader’s Digest just gave Squam Lake a shoutout as one of the best swimming lakes in the U.S., and honestly, I get it. It’s not flashy like Winnipesaukee, but it’s got that calm, laid-back charm that’s harder to find these days. The water’s clean, there’s way less boat traffic thanks to those 40 mph limits, and you can actually hear yourself think while floating around.
It’s also kind of cool that On Golden Pond was filmed there you feel like you’re swimming through a postcard. If you’ve only been doing the ocean or the bigger lakes, Squam’s definitely worth a detour. Anyone have favorite little beach spots around it?
