Hi all,
Looking for some perspective after a rough first experience with Singapore Airlines.
I flew a 17-hour direct flight in Premium Economy (roundtrip ticket ~$1300). Unfortunately, my seat was basically non-functional:
No entertainment
No reading light
No charging port
So for the entire long-haul, I couldn’t watch anything, charge my phone, or even read properly. I also can’t really sleep on planes, so it made the flight pretty miserable.
During the flight:
I was not offered to use another working seat
Before boarding, I was only asked if I wanted to move to Economy (no mention of compensation, and I’d be separated from my travel partner)
Afterward, they offered:
$155 USD voucher
Or 20,000 KrisFlyer miles instead
Customer service is also claiming I could’ve used Economy’s entertainment, which wasn’t actually presented as an option onboard.
My questions:
Is $155 (or 20k miles) considered reasonable for a fully inoperative premium economy seat on a 17h flight?
Between the two, is the miles option actually better value if I don’t travel often?
Is it worth pushing for more compensation?
Would appreciate any advice or similar experiences.
