Came across this old passenger car parked on a spur in Petaluma, CA. It still has a very faded Amtrak logo, but based on the design I’m guessing it pre-dates Amtrak and might’ve been inherited from one of the legacy railroads. The condition is pretty rough, but it’s clearly been moved somewhat recently.
Does anyone know what type of car this is and its history? Was it part of Amtrak’s heritage fleet before being retired? Always cool to stumble on pieces of rail history like this and curious if anyone here has more details.
