I had a one-way flight booked to New Orleans in two weeks with Spirit Airlines. Today, my reservation was suddenly canceled and I received a refund for the ticket.
The issue is that I originally booked a non-refundable fare, so I am not sure how the cancellation happened from my side.
When I checked the website afterward, the exact same flight I was booked on is still available for purchase, but now at about twice the price.
I reached out through Spirit’s chat support since I am at work and cannot call. They said they do not know why the booking was canceled and that they will investigate, but I still need to secure a replacement flight soon and cannot wait indefinitely for a resolution.
It feels like I may have been removed from the flight so the seat could be resold at a higher fare, although I have no proof of that.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Spirit? If so, what is the best way to handle it while still trying to get to my destination on time?
