Hi everyone,
I recently flew Spirit Airlines from Atlantic City, NJ to Orlando, FL on flight 2409. After landing, I realized I had left my running belt on the plane, which contained my ID and cards. This was my first time traveling with a toddler, so things were a bit hectic.
I immediately went back to try to recover it, but I was told I could not re-enter the aircraft. A staff member checked for me and also had the cleaning crew look, but they initially couldn’t locate it. I left my contact details and later received a call early the next morning saying the bag had been found behind the ticketing counter and that I could pick it up on Sunday before my return flight.
Since our hotel was far from the airport and we already had plans, I decided to wait because I had already canceled my cards and didn’t urgently need the physical ID until returning home.
However, Spirit has now shut down operations, and there are no employees available at the airport. I’ve tried contacting them by email and phone, but there has been no response. When I went back to the airport, no one there could assist me either since Spirit staff are no longer present.
At this point, I’m not sure what options I have left to recover my belongings, and I’m looking for any advice on what I should do next.
Has anyone dealt with a situation like this when an airline stops operating suddenly while still holding your property?
