SW used to be the no-brainer choice because it was flexible and low-stress easy cancellations, no-expiring credits, free bags, simple rules. Now the cheapest fares expire in six months (every other airline gives you a year), some fares don’t include bags at all, and all the things that made Southwest different are basically gone.
Instead of fixing their messy scheduling system or adding assigned seats if that’s what people want, they just made everything worse. Honestly can’t think of a single reason I’d pick Southwest over the legacies at this point.
