Just saw that Southwest is bringing back their iconic “Bags Fly Free” policy, but with a catch it’s only for their new vacation bundles called Getaways by Southwest. Basically, if you book a flight and hotel through them, you get two free checked bags per traveler. But for everyone else? You’re still paying $35–$45 per bag unless you have elite status or a premium fare.
I get that airlines are shifting to squeeze out profits, but it feels a bit sneaky to market it like the good old days. It does seem like a decent perk for bundled vacations (especially to spots like Hawaii or Cancun), but I miss when this was standard across all fares. Has anyone tried one of these Getaways packages yet? Curious if the savings actually add up.
