Had a Southwest flight from Las Vegas to Denver last week where they made an announcement I’d never heard before.
They told everyone not to put anything in the seatback pockets during takeoff or landing for safety reasons. They repeated it several times and even walked through the cabin checking that the pockets were empty.
It surprised me because I usually put things like my Kindle, phone, or snacks there before takeoff so they’re easy to grab. My backpack stays under the seat, and since I’m usually in the window it’s hard to reach once the middle seat is filled.
I’ve flown a lot and never heard this rule before. Is this a new Southwest policy or just something specific to that flight?
