Flying cross country in less than 48 hours, and this is one of the first days with Southwest’s new assigned seating. My wife and I both booked the same fare that lets you pick seats at booking. We specifically chose aisle seats for both legs and I still have the confirmation emails showing that.
Checked the app today and somehow Southwest randomly reassigned my wife to a middle seat on the first leg. No email, no notification, no explanation. Just silently changed it.
Luckily I caught it in time and managed to move her to the last aisle seat left, but if I hadn’t checked, we would’ve shown up to the airport and been stuck.
So yeah, heads up to anyone flying soon. Double check your seat assignments, even if you already selected them and have confirmation. Apparently they’re not as locked in as you’d expect.
