I’ve flown Southwest my whole life, literally since the days when they barely left Texas. I always picked them over anyone else. Even with all the recent annoyances endless preboards, EarlyBird changes, points tweaks, bag policy noise I still stuck with them.
But today just broke me. Boarding for Atlanta with the same carry on I’ve flown with for years, including two months ago on Southwest. Suddenly the gate agent is announcing that if your expander zipper isn’t zipped closed, you have to check the bag. Mine doesn’t zip, and she made me step aside and check it. The counter agent kept repeating they’re “cracking down on oversized bags” even though mine is well within their size limits.
And of course the flight was nowhere near full. Only a handful of people in B group.
Feels like a totally different airline now. Really sad to say it, but I think I’m done.
