Had a confusing situation with Southwest and wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
Our itinerary was Burbank → Denver → Colorado Springs, with the return being Colorado Springs → Las Vegas → Burbank.
When we landed in Denver, we asked a Southwest gate agent if we could cancel the Denver → Colorado Springs leg and just stay in Denver, but keep our return flights. The agent said that was fine and canceled that segment.
Four days later when we tried to check in for our return, we were told the entire itinerary had been canceled. Customer service said skipping that segment forfeited the rest of our flights.
We never received any notice that the return flights were canceled, and we specifically confirmed with the agent that they would remain.
In the end we had to buy new last-minute tickets home for about $400.
Has anyone had something like this happen? Is there another department to escalate this with Southwest or are we just out the money?
