Southwest Airlines has been sued by Dr. Briana Hicks, who alleges that on November 20, 2024, she was unjustly singled out and removed from Flight 952 from Chicago to Washington, D.C. because she is Black. During an exit-row briefing, a flight attendant called her out—despite other passengers holding phones or laptops—and a White passenger questioned the biased treatment. Despite Dr. Hicks raising concerns to other crew members, the same attendant ordered her off the flight, leading to public humiliation, involvement of law enforcement, and significant travel disruption. Her civil rights complaint accuses Southwest of race-based discrimination.
