I was pretty anxious before my trip after reading a lot of negative experiences, especially since I booked basic fares while traveling with a toddler and didn’t realize families aren’t always seated together automatically.
However, things worked out because my husband has a credit card with Southwest Airlines. Even though we didn’t use the card to pay for the tickets, we were still able to select seats 48 hours before departure. That allowed us to sit together without issues.
On top of that, everyone on the reservation got a free checked bag, and we ended up in boarding group 3 despite having seats toward the back of the plane.
Overall, having the airline’s credit card made the entire experience much smoother, and it seems like a useful workaround for avoiding common travel hassles.
