So apparently South Africa is now ranked the most dangerous travel destination of 2025, according to Everly Life’s new risk index. It scored a whopping 76 on their Travel Danger Score, mainly due to high crime, traffic deaths, and low healthcare ratings. Iran, Brazil, and Pakistan round out the top four, with some eye-opening stats of their own.
That said… I’ve had some of the best travel memories in places like Brazil and Thailand which also made the list. A report like this is definitely a wake-up call, but it’s also not a reason to cancel everything. It just reinforces how critical it is to prep hard travel insurance, local research, and knowing what to expect beyond the brochure.
Anyone been to any of these “risky” places recently? Did it feel unsafe or was it more about knowing where to go?
