Had the weirdest experience on a connection through DCA today.
After landing, I went to grab my carry on from the floor bin near my seat and it was gone. Only bag left was a grey one that looked nothing like mine. Different color, shape, everything. So someone clearly grabbed the wrong bag.
I had a tight 30 minute connection and all my stuff for a campus visit was in there. Thankfully I had a journal inside with my contact info.
The guy who took it realized his mistake and called the airline. They told him they could send his bag down as long as he brought mine back up since I was still in the airport. His bag was sent down the chute… and then he refused to come back through security to return mine.
So I had to board without it. And to make it worse, my onward flight got canceled and I was rebooked to a different airport, so now I have no clue where my bag even is in this shuffle.
I get honest mistakes happen. But refusing to fix it when you know? That’s wild.
Has this happened to anyone else? How did it get resolved?
