My family is planning a Princess Alaska cruise and I’m trying to figure out if this setup is going to cause issues.
My parents very generously offered to pay for the whole trip. The group will be my parents, my brother and his wife, my sister and her husband, their 9 year old son, and me. My husband decided to stay home because a week long cruise with my entire family isn’t really his thing.
When my mom booked everything, she put all the couples together and paired me with my nephew in a cabin. She said it was just for booking purposes and that he’ll actually sleep in his parents’ room or maybe with my parents.
A couple things I’m wondering about:
First, is that even allowed? I’m assuming there are capacity or safety rules, so I’m not sure if the cruise line actually checks who sleeps where.
Second, I’d like to get the drink package, but from what I understand everyone in the same cabin has to buy it. Obviously that wouldn’t make sense with a 9 year old booked in my room.
If my mom already made the booking, what’s the easiest way to fix this? I’d honestly be happy to just pay to switch to a solo cabin if that’s possible.
