Been hunting for award space to Japan for months and finally scored it. I had about 260k MR points and did a speculative transfer to Hawaiian then Alaska back when that was still possible. Figured worst case I’d use the Alaska miles for something else.
I’ve been checking seats.aero and searching manually every day since summer. Woke up to an alert this morning for ORD to HND on the exact date we needed in Jan 2026. Called in and switched my existing PE booking and grabbed two J seats on JAL 9 for 75k Atmos each.
Still need the return flights, but this feels like a huge win. So relieved to have the hardest part locked in.
