Stuck in a hotel for about a week while my apartment gets cleaned for asbestos. I work nights and sleep roughly 9am to 5pm, so I picked a hotel just to get quiet daytime sleep.
I told the front desk when I checked in and asked if housekeeping could come anytime outside those hours. First clean went great. Super fast, early, no issues. Thought we were aligned.
Then a couple days later I put the sign out early, fell asleep around 9, and housekeeping showed up at 12:20pm. Got woken up, waited in the hallway half asleep while they cleaned, and couldn’t fall back asleep after.
Called the desk again and asked if they could try to come before 9am or after 5pm. They said they’d note it.
Now I’m wondering if I’m being a pain. Is this kind of request actually reasonable or am I expecting too much from hotel ops?
Also… I didn’t tip the first couple cleans. Honestly didn’t even think about it until now. Grabbed cash but only have a $20 and that feels like a lot. Am I the worst guest ever or am I overthinking this?
