Yeah, this lines up with what I’ve been seeing too. Emirates awards just keep creeping up, especially on popular routes and peak dates. 110k Skywards for a DXB–AMS economy return in August is wild, and not in a good way.
It feels like dynamic pricing has completely taken over. You check one week, it’s high, check again later, it’s even higher. At that point you’re better off paying cash and saving the miles for an upgrade, if that even prices reasonably.
Skywards used to feel aspirational. Lately it just feels like you’re constantly chasing a moving target.
