We have a trip to Egypt planned for May 12 and the remaining balance for our tour is due March 15. I’m really torn about whether to continue with the trip or cancel now.
If we cancel before the 15th, we only lose our $800 deposit (which can be transferred to a future trip). But if we pay the balance and tensions escalate, our tour company doesn’t offer much of a refund unless they cancel the tour themselves. Even then it’s only a credit for a future trip.
I do have CFAR travel insurance that would recover about 50% of the nonrefundable costs, but we’d still be out roughly $4k.
Is anyone else here debating a May trip to Egypt? Curious what others would do in this situation.
