My dad and I have the same first and last name and share the same home address.
A few years ago, I created a World of Hyatt account and built up around 250k points. Later, my dad applied for the World of Hyatt credit card and left the membership number blank, expecting to be assigned a new account.
Instead, it looks like Hyatt linked him to my existing membership number, so now both of us are earning into the same account. Points and free night certificates are all being combined into one balance.
This wasn’t intentional, and now I’m wondering if this could be a problem.
Could this lead to issues like account audits, shutdowns, or losing points? Or is it generally safe to leave things as they are since all stays and spending are legitimate?
Has anyone experienced something similar with World of Hyatt or other loyalty programs?
