A few days ago at SFO, Global Entry was using facial recognition to process arrivals. The kiosks were roped off, and instead of the usual steps, a CBP officer with a tablet just looked at me and said “welcome home Mr …” and that was it.
The whole process took maybe 5 seconds before I was on my way to baggage claim while the regular immigration line was still building up.
It felt like a major improvement in speed and efficiency compared to the traditional kiosk process.
