Been here a while now and wow, the lack of personal space still gets me. Yesterday I’m at an ATM and a guy is basically breathing on my neck watching me type my PIN. Not trying to rob me, just waiting his turn like it’s totally normal. Markets are the same people grab your arm, reach over you, squeeze past you like you’re not even there.
I get it now though… space here is kind of shared. My little Western “bubble” doesn’t mean anything. After a few months I’ve weirdly adapted. My friends visited and were horrified, and I was like “nah, this is just how it works.”
Kinda worried I’m gonna go home and accidentally stand two inches behind people in line.
