After flying around 1.7 million miles, I finally ran into a situation I had never dealt with before. I was seated in a window bulkhead seat on a 737-900 when another passenger came to take the seat beside me. He appeared unable to fit comfortably into the assigned seat and ended up occupying a significant portion of my space as well.
I spoke with a flight attendant, who seemed reluctant to get involved, and eventually a gate agent came onboard. I was told they would not enforce the airline's seating policy and that my options were either taking a later flight or contacting customer care afterward for compensation.
The flight was completely full, so I was surprised by how the situation was handled. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
