A long-time Alaska Airlines customer shared concerns after a recent flight to Hawaii on a 737-8 MAX aircraft. While generally very loyal to the airline and appreciative of its service quality, the passenger felt disappointed with the seating comfort on this particular trip.
They noted that although modern features like phone holders and USB-C charging ports are convenient, the seat cushioning appeared to be reduced. Traveling on a saver fare in the last row, the seats did not recline and felt very upright. The limited padding made the seat uncomfortable, even before takeoff, leading to significant discomfort during the flight.
Despite understanding the limitations of saver fares and seat selection, the overall experience was described as more uncomfortable than longer international flights on other airlines. The traveler expressed concern that such changes in seat comfort may affect their perception of Alaska Airlines, especially given their usual preference for the airline over competitors.
