First time flying Southwest since the assigned seating change. Noticed in the app that you can keep shuffling seats around up until 60 minutes before departure. Once you’re inside that window, you get the message saying seat changes are no longer allowed.
Our flight isn’t even full, but there’s a huge line at the gate of people upset about their seat assignments and trying to switch. Gate agent keeps telling everyone there are seats available, but they’re all middle seats and nothing together.
Feels like this is what the new Basic fare experience looks like. Lots of last minute seat shuffling, then frustration at the gate once the app locks everyone out.
