I was actually flying out of Dulles the same day United Airlines Flight 108 had to declare a Mayday gave me chills just hearing about it. The Munich-bound Boeing 787 lost an engine right after takeoff with 219 passengers onboard. The pilots had to dump fuel and circle before landing safely back at IAD.
Really makes you think how crucial those flight crews and protocols are. I travel a lot, and while I’ve hit turbulence and delays, I’ve never been on a flight that had to declare an emergency. Has anyone here ever experienced a Mayday situation midair? Curious how you handled it mentally did it change how you fly?
