Heads up for anyone in Venice, especially solo travelers. Two nights in a row I saw the same woman outside Santa Lucia station young, blonde, says her phone died and she needs cash to get home to her daughter. Talks fast, seems panicked, promises to pay you back later.
I almost gave her money the first night, and the next night I watched her try it again on someone else. If this happens to you, just say you don’t carry cash and she’ll move on. It’s a scam. Stay kind, but stay sharp out there.
