Sanity check on getting to Punta Arenas before an Antarctica cruise

Looking for a quick gut check on our plan.

We land in Santiago on Jan 19. Cruise operator wants us in Punta Arenas by 2pm on Jan 23 for a Jan 24 departure. Main goal is to recover from jet lag without doing anything that risks missing the cruise.

We’ve already done Santiago and Torres del Paine, so we were thinking of flying to Puerto Montt on the 19th, spending a few days around Puerto Varas and the Lakes District, then flying Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas the morning of the 23rd. All LATAM flights. We’d keep an eye on weather and move flights earlier if needed.

Big concern is flight reliability into Punta Arenas that time of year. Do last minute cancellations happen often enough that this is risky? Or is flying in the morning the day before generally fine?

Puerto Varas feels like a nicer, lower stress place to shake off jet lag than hanging around Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales, but maybe I’m overthinking it. Curious how others handled this stretch before their cruise.
