Been a Platinum holder for 6 years, and I usually grab a $50 Sak’s gift card twice a year for the Amex credit. Stopped by the South Coast Plaza store today first employee tried to sell me a $48 candle and said “Amex doesn’t reimburse gift cards anymore.” Later came back, different floor, different employee same line, even ruder.
Even if Amex didn’t cover it, I’d still use the gift card, but wow… the attitude was unreal. I work in high-end retail too, and I’d never treat a customer like that.
