Flew Venice to Stansted yesterday, typical Ryanair run, full flight, far gate, landed pretty hard but on time.
What caught my attention was at Venice. I was sitting 33F at the back and saw ground crew loading a bunch of aircraft tyres into the cargo hold. Looked like 4 big ones and a couple smaller ones. Not exactly smooth either, they were literally rolling them in.
Then at Stansted there was a machine ready to take them out straight away.
Made me wonder if this is something Ryanair does regularly, like moving used wheels back to base instead of changing them everywhere.
Why not just swap them at the airport though? Is it a staffing or cost thing?
