Flew with 2 bike boxes out of Valencia yesterday after the “70.3” triathlon weekend.
With around 2000 competitors, there was a massive queue for oversized luggage drop-off. However, ground staff for Ryanair (Azul handling) set up a separate priority queue specifically for Ryanair passengers.
We managed to drop off our bikes in about 5 minutes, while others waited up to an hour, including some with priority tags.
It was honestly an unexpected and very efficient experience. As an older Englishman, it also went against my natural queuing instincts… I’m still slightly feeling guilty about it!
That said, later at boarding it was very much still Ryanair: strict hand luggage checks, measuring bags, and charging people for small things like straps sticking out 😄
