Had a strange boarding experience flying Netherlands → London Stansted recently.
I’m a Chilean passport holder with a UK student e-visa, and normally I’ve never had issues boarding or entering the UK. This time at the gate they stopped me and said my visa needed to be verified before I could board.
Instead of scanning my biometric passport, they asked me to log into the UK government website and generate a share code to prove my immigration status. Once I showed the code, they printed a new boarding pass and let me board, but I was one of the last passengers on the plane.
It caught me off guard because I thought the whole point of biometric passports and e-visas was that everything could be verified digitally.
Has anyone else run into this recently when flying to the UK?
