Rude American Airlines FAs really took the shine off a business class splurge

My husband and I upgraded last minute to business class on a 12 hour overnight flight home from our honeymoon. We were so excited. Lay flat seats, good food, nice amenities. Probably a once in a lifetime thing for us.

Unfortunately the crew made it really uncomfortable. After takeoff, people were already getting up even though the seatbelt sign was still on. I asked an FA if it was okay for me to use the bathroom and got a very condescending “of course” like I was stupid for asking.

Another FA scoffed at my drink order (plum wine with soda, which was literally on the menu), then spilled it on my tray and walked away without apologizing or offering napkins. I had to clean it up myself. I also watched him snap at a coworker so badly that another passenger looked at me and made a face because it was so awkward.

Later, my husband was told by one FA to walk through the galley to avoid a crowd waiting for the bathroom. He did, and then a different FA scolded him for doing exactly that, even though it happened right in front of the first one.

We weren’t expecting special treatment just because we paid more, but this felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. I filed a complaint, not expecting much, but it really sucked to have what should have been a great ending to our honeymoon feel like this.
