Saw a pretty rough situation someone posted about a Royal Caribbean cruise.
Their aunt and mom booked a Bahamas cruise for about $6k total. Right before the sailing, a hurricane had passed and the cruise got heavily modified. The Bahamas stop was removed and the ship stayed docked an extra day.
Passengers were apparently given two options onboard: stay on the cruise and get a $200 credit, or leave the ship and get a full refund. They chose the refund and got off.
Problem is… the refund never came. Later Royal Caribbean apparently labeled them as no-shows because they didn’t have the refund agreement in writing. The bank dispute also ended up siding with the cruise line, so now the aunt is stuck paying the $6k back with interest.
Honestly that sounds like a nightmare if it really happened that way. Makes me wonder how often people get things promised onboard but not documented.
