Just got word that Royal Caribbean quietly removed the option to request an exemption from the drink package policy. So now, if one person in a cabin buys the Deluxe Beverage Package, every other adult must buy it too no more calling in for exceptions for non-drinkers or medical reasons. Seems like too many folks were abusing the honor system and sharing drinks.
I totally get cracking down on loopholes, but this feels like a hit to solo drinkers traveling with family or partners who don’t drink at all. Personally, I might skip the package now and stick to à la carte or my Crown & Anchor perks. What’s your take smart move by Royal or just punishing responsible cruisers?
