We arrived at Rome Fiumicino Airport at around 9:30 am yesterday (4-13-26). The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) kiosks were closed at both the arrival gate and in the main terminal. There were essentially no queues. We only needed to place our passport into a machine once to pass through a turnstile, and then a border officer stamped our passport, so the process was completed within minutes.
I understand this may not always be the case, but this was our experience.
At the taxi rank, an official-looking staff member in a yellow vest directed us toward a driver who tried to take us across the street and said he was a “black cab.” We declined and returned to the official queue for white taxis, where we had no issues and were served normally.
