First time staying with IHG after mostly being a Marriott person, and this was not the intro I was expecting. Stayed two nights at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok and during breakfast we had live roaches. One was literally inside a napkin, another crawling on the table. When we looked over at the nearby bar counter, we saw at least three more crawling around.
This wasn’t some hidden corner either, we were seated near a bar table in the breakfast area. Pretty hard to unsee that.
We reported it and the hotel offered 30k IHG points and said that’s the maximum they could do. I’m Platinum via Chase Sapphire Reserve Business. I’ve stayed at W, Sheraton, Le Meridien, etc., all over Asia, and I’ve never had anything like this happen during breakfast.
Curious what others think. Is 30k actually reasonable for something like this, or should I be pushing harder with IHG corporate?
