I recently stayed 2 nights at the reopened Park Hyatt Tokyo, booking through a combination of points and Hyatt Privé since award availability was limited due to high demand during a Lady Gaga concert.
The first night was booked on points and the second through Hyatt Privé, which included a $100 hotel credit. I stayed as an Asian traveler and travel advisor who frequently evaluates hotels for personal and professional recommendations.
The hotel’s location is convenient with a shuttle to Shinjuku Station, though the station itself remains confusing and the area feels busy rather than relaxing. I may consider other Tokyo districts like Roppongi or Toranomon in the future.
The renovated rooms felt fresh, well maintained, and offered excellent views of Shinjuku. While some returning guests may miss the original character, I found the room quality very strong.
Public areas feel quieter and more understated compared to newer luxury properties in Tokyo. It is not especially family-oriented and seems better suited for couples, business travelers, and hotel enthusiasts.
Breakfast at Girandole was a highlight, especially the Japanese set breakfast with salmon, rice, miso soup, tamagoyaki, and pickles, along with melon and prosciutto.
I also used my Hyatt credit at the New York Bar on the 52nd floor. The cocktails were inconsistent, with some drinks not meeting expectations, though the atmosphere was enjoyable and more relaxed than trendier hotel bars.
Overall, Tokyo has strong luxury hotel competition. I would stay again, but it would not necessarily be my first choice.
