I recently flew Lufthansa’s refurbished A380 business class on the Boston to Munich route and wanted to share my experience.
I was seated in a bulkhead window seat in the rear mini-cabin on the upper deck (row 24K). The seat felt spacious and comfortable, especially in lie-flat mode, where the extra footwell space in the bulkhead made a noticeable difference.
One warning: the forward business class bulkhead row (around row 10) has a less ideal layout. The seat is close to the aisle, has exposed structural elements near the side table, and is near the lavatories, which reduces comfort and privacy. In comparison, my seat in row 24 was much better positioned, with more privacy and no obstructive features.
The crew was very friendly and even offered to take photos since I was taking pictures and videos as an aviation enthusiast. They seemed excited about the new cabin retrofit and happy to be moving away from the older 2-2-2 layout.
Overall, the seat was wide enough even for a broader build, service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall product felt solid. It does not have a privacy door, but visibility from other passengers was still minimal in my seat.
I booked using about 42,000 points plus roughly $400 in taxes and fees, which felt like good value. The Boston lounge experience was also excellent, with direct boarding to the upper deck.
A flight attendant also mentioned upcoming changes to Lufthansa’s 747-8 first class product, including a potential redesign with fewer seats and possibly a more private suite-style layout in the nose section, though that is unconfirmed.
