Residential Cruise Ship Flunks CDC Inspection Midway Through 3-Year Voyage

I’ve never lived aboard a residential cruise ship like the Villa Vie Odyssey, but I did spend three weeks on a long repositioning cruise a couple of years back, and it gave me a glimpse into that lifestyle. At first, it was dreamy waking up in a new port every few days, no cooking or cleaning, and plenty of time to chat with fellow passengers who quickly became like neighbors. But I also saw how much behind-the-scenes upkeep matters. When something in the galley or plumbing wasn’t quite right, it could affect the whole ship’s vibe pretty fast.

That’s why news like the Odyssey’s failed CDC inspection makes me curious. I can imagine how living on board for years would magnify small maintenance issues. Still, I know some people would happily trade a few quirks for the adventure of a floating home.

Would you take the plunge on a multi-year voyage if the price and itinerary were right?
