This confused me the first time too.
When Google Maps says “remain on board,” it usually means the train keeps going but changes line names along the way. So you don’t get off, even though technically the line might switch.
In Tokyo, some trains run through multiple lines seamlessly, so it feels like you’re suddenly on a different route without moving.
It’s actually one of those things that makes life easier once you trust it.
Totally get the hesitation though, especially at night when you don’t want to mess up.
