Record Rains Bring Flash Flooding to Milwaukee and Beyond

I was in Wisconsin this weekend, and I’ve never seen rain come down like that. Nearly 8 inches fell in the Milwaukee area in less than 24 hours, breaking records and leaving entire streets underwater. The Wisconsin State Fair had to shut down early even canceling Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Saturday night show and by Sunday, the fairgrounds were partly submerged. Rescuers were out all night helping stranded drivers and evacuating residents, while debris piled up under bridges along the Milwaukee River.

What struck me most was how quickly it all happened. One minute, roads were just wet; the next, they were impassable. Power outages hit several towns, and flood warnings remain in effect with more rain expected through Monday. If you’ve been in the area or had to deal with the flooding, how are you holding up?
