Rail travel expected to rise sharply by 2030

I’ve been saying this for years. If the trains are fast, clean, and on time, why bother flying short-haul? That Hitachi study just confirmed what a lot of us already feel: rail is the future, at least for regional trips. Europe’s ahead on this, obviously, but even here in the US, I’m seeing more people talk about choosing Amtrak over flying when it makes sense.

It’s not just about carbon emissions. the hassle of flying that pushes me toward trains. No security drama, no three-hour check-ins, and usually a way more relaxed experience overall.

Does anyone know if any new high-speed corridors are actually being built in the US right now that aren’t just “studies”?
