If you’re pairing Crater Lake with the redwoods, I’d do a tidy loop: SF to Ashland for a night, early run to Crater Lake, then drop to Umpqua Hot Springs and Toketee Falls. Cut over to the coast and crawl the Samuel H. Boardman corridor and Harris Beach near Brookings. On the way into the redwoods, take Howland Hill Road for that jaw drop moment and walk the Grove of Titans. Trees of Mystery is fun if you’re feeling touristy, but I’d prioritize the classic trails.
Small tips that saved me time: book Oregon Caves ahead if you add it, check tides for the coast pullouts, and expect spotty service around Crater Lake. Coffee at Dutch Bros store 1 in Grants Pass is a cute pit stop if you’re passing anyway.
