I came across a connecting flight option on Wizz Air that includes an add-on called “ConnectSure,” and I’m trying to understand how it relates to passenger rights under EC Regulation 261/2004.
My understanding is that if flights are booked as part of the same reservation, they should be considered a single journey. Since the itinerary starts within the EU, EC261 should apply, which includes protections such as rerouting and accommodation in case of delays or cancellations.
Given that, I’m wondering:
If I book both segments together in one transaction, are they automatically treated as a single reservation under EC261?
If so, what additional protection does ConnectSure actually provide?
Does purchasing this add-on overlap with or duplicate the rights already granted under EC261, or is there something extra it covers?
I’d appreciate any clarification on how this works in practice.
