I get this concern. 9pm departure out of Doha and all you want to do is knock out for a few hours, but airline meal carts have other plans.
From what I’ve seen with Qatar, they usually serve dinner pretty soon after takeoff on long haul flights like that. If you’re asleep, they often will try to wake you unless you tell them not to. Best move is to let the crew know when they come by early, or even as you board, that you want to skip the first meal and sleep. You can also use the do not disturb function if your seat has it.
Jet lag wise, sleeping early on that flight makes a lot of sense, so skipping one meal is probably worth it.
