Had my own run-in with QR last year when they tried to count my under-seat backpack as a full carry-on. They eventually waved it through because I was in business, but still ridiculous.
Today it happened to my sister she’s traveling with her two young boys. Each kid has a tiny backpack with toys and coloring books, barely bigger than a purse. She has her own small backpack plus a carry-on suitcase. QR insisted the kids’ little bags were full carry-ons, so suddenly she “had four.” They made her consolidate and send one bag home with her husband.
If it fits under the seat, it should be a personal item. Qatar needs to chill.
